Estimated Reading Time: 4 minutes
Applies to: Add on available for all plans - (Belgium)
Quick Summary
Peppol allows you to send electronic B2B invoices securely through a standardized European network. Peppol e-invoicing is mandatory in Belgium. With Trainin you can opt to send the invoices to your business clients to Peppol when this is activated in your Trainin account and you and your client are correctly registered.
Why This Matters
If you create invoices for B2B clients in Belgium, you must comply with Peppol regulations from January 2026 onwards.
Activating Peppol in Trainin ensures your invoices are legally compliant and correctly sent out to the official Peppol network.
Before You Start
Sending invoices to Peppol only works if:
Your business is correctly registered with Peppol
Your B2B client is correctly registered with Peppol and you filled out their company details in their client profile
Complete registration with Peppol can be arranged through your accountant.
You can verify if your client is correctly registered via: https://www.peppolcheck.be/nl
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1: Request Peppol activation
– Send an email to support@trainin.be to activate the Peppol add-on in your Trainin account.
Step 2: Verify your client’s Peppol registration
– Check the client’s VAT number via https://www.peppolcheck.be/nl to confirm they are registered.
Step 3: Add or update the VAT number
– Go to the client’s details, fill out the company details and ensure the correct VAT number is saved.
Step 4: Re-save existing VAT numbers (if needed)
– If a client registered for Peppol after their VAT number was already added, open their profile and save the VAT number again.
Step 5: Send a test invoice
– Create an invoice for the client and check under Finance > Invoices to confirm it was sent via Peppol.
If the VAT Number Is Not Accepted
If you cannot save a VAT number in Trainin, this usually means the client is not correctly registered on the Peppol network. In this case, they must complete their Peppol registration before invoices can be sent.
You can verify their registration via: https://www.peppolcheck.be/nl
Costs
For the use of the Peppol add-on, an additional €9 per month will be charged on top of your existing subscription.
Important Limitation
Trainin only supports sending sales invoices to B2B clients via Peppol.
Trainin does not provide a Peppol inbox for receiving purchase invoices.
